Van der Mey operates from a modern plant in Sassenheim, situated in the Netherlands between Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam harbour. Yearly 25 million kilos of traditional and tasteful meat finds a way to butchers, supermarkets, catering suppliers and the meat processing industry in at home and abroad. In the Netherlands delivery is largely done by our own fleet of trucks.
With every decision-making Van der Mey aims to weigh the economic, social, animal welfare and environmental issues as good as possible. Daily 100 professionals prepare with passion the most delicious fresh products of the highest quality. Use is made of 8,700 m2 plant floor area equipped with the most modern means of production in order to create an innovative product range.
In addition to renewal and innovation we find it also important to honour our traditions such as the hand salted and with beech wood smoked bacon.
When we invest we like to buy good and durable materials with a long life-time. Therefore the loading platforms have been equipped with closed dock shelters and the smoking cabinet eliminates any possibility of smoke and tar emissions. Cleaning water is heated by the warmth released by the refrigerating and freezing equipment. The plant is provided with led-lightning and waste is separated actively. In this way Van der Mey keeps its “ecological footprint” as small as possible during the production of meat.
